Bring on The baskets
Lowell General Hospital raffle a big part of Sun Santa success
Normally, the baskets can be viewed in person. Normally, the winners are announced before a large audience.
These are not normal times. But the need to help members of the community has never been greater than during the pandemic.
For the second year in a row, the Lowell General Hospital Theme Basket raffle will be held virtually, to keep the community safe.
Last year’s basket raffle raised $90,000 for the Sun Santa Fund, the major fundraising arm of Lowell Sun Charities.
“We sense great enthusiasm once again from our team at Lowell General Hospital,” said Jennifer Hanson, the hospital’s director of development. “Despite another unprecedented year, our teams have produced some amazing baskets. All of the groups are doing great things for others in the community.”
LGH staff members have produced 23 baskets. The baskets can be viewed from Friday until Dec. 6. To purchase raffle tickets or to view the baskets, visit www.lowellgeneral.org/sunsanta.
“The LGH folks are amazing, from Jody White and his leadership team to the philanthropy team, and every department of the hospital. The true spirit of generosity shines. Every child deserves to have a Merry Christmas, and the LGH basket raffle is key to making that happen in greater Lowell,” Sun Santa Fund Coordinator Nancy Roberts said. “We’re so grateful for their hard work and support.”
Every department at LGH gets involved in creating the baskets. Lowell General has been a staunch supporter of the Sun Santa Fund for more than 20 years.
“We’re so pleased to work again with our partners at Lowell Sun Charities,” Hanson said.
One of the baskets has a value over $4,000. It contains a 75inch television as well as technical devices. Another basket features a trip to Disney World and is valued at over $3,500.
