Wilmington/north Reading girls second in Cape Ann League

The Wilmington/north Reading co-op girls and boys swim teams competed in the Cape Ann League championsh­ip meets Sunday.

The girls finished in second place by compiling 423 points and the boys team placed third with 356 points.

On the girls side, the lone champion was Maddie Koenig in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.51 seconds. She also placed third in the 100 backstroke in 1:04.98. In addition, she was also part of the third-place 400 freestyle relay team along with Lindsey Kane, Lauren Feffer

and Ella Dong in 4:13.47 and then the same four finished fourth in the 200 medley relay.

In the 200 IM, Dong was fourth in 2:48.30 and Priscilla Vo was fifth in 2:58.35.

Feffer and Kane finished fourth and fifth in the 50 free with respective times of 27.99 and 28.67. They both also picked up fifth places in another event, Feffer in the 500 free in 6:41.90 and Kane in the 100 free in 1:04.60.

Finally, the 200 freestyle relay team of Cassie Tibbets, Elise Higgins, Julia Kane and Gillian Kane finished fifth in 2:09.04.

The boys team was led by senior Ethan Ryan. He won the 100 breaststro­ke in 1:04.54, was second in the 200 IM in 2:11.53, was part of the second-place 200 medley relay with Spencer Bagtaz, Dat Tran and Jonathan Mangano, and then it was Ryan with Ivan Deiko, Bagtaz and Tran to place third in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:55.11.

In the 100 backstroke, Bagtaz was second in 1:01.35 with Savage fourth in 1:09.57. Deiko added a third in the 200 free in 2:11.94 and a fourth in the 500 free in 6:03.33. Dat Tran took fourth in the 100 butterfly in 1:07.71.

Finally, the 200 free relay team of Tyler Sheehan, Dylan Tran, Aryan Patil and Jonathan Mangano was sixth in 1:58.06.
