LOWELL - Ossie Mary “Cookie” Buote, 87, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, February 13, 2023. She was the loving wife of George W. Buote who passed away September 23, 2022.

Ossie was born in Morganton, North Carolina on January 31, 1936, the daughter of Zachriah and Mary Cook.

She was a graduate of Westford Academy. Cookie married George Buote on September

11, 1954 in Westford, while George was still serving in the Navy. They moved to Lowell and lived on Bourne St. then State St. before settling into their longtime family home on Juniper St. Cookie was a parishione­r of St. Marie’s Church, now Holy Family Parish. She was involved in the parish and was a Eucharisti­c Minister and taught CCD for many years.

Prior to her retirement, Cookie was employed as a Nurse’s Aide at Sunny Acres Nursing Home. Cookie and George loved to travel all over the United States and to Aruba, but especially loved the White Mountains. George adored Cookie and they did everything together, and if you saw one you saw the other! She was a great cook and had many famous recipes that she was known for.

Cookie’s passion was her family. She loved her family and adored her grandchild­ren and great grandchild­ren.

Cookie is survived by her children, George Buote, Jr., David Buote and his wife Susan, Richard Buote and his girlfriend Susan Ramsden, and Christophe­r Buote and his wife Crystal; five grandchild­ren, Donald Dean Jr., Amanda Dean, Samantha Decourcey, Katelyn White, and Shawn Poissant; 5 great grandchild­ren; 1 great great grandson and her sister Carol Korsak.

Cookie was the mother of the late Mary

Ellen Buote who died on August 31, 2002 and grandmothe­r of the late Jaime Dean who died on April 22, 2018. She was also the sister of the late Marvin Cook and Emma Waters.

Family and Friends may call at THE FAY MCCABE FUNERAL HOME, 105 MOORE STREET, LOWELL, on THURSDAY, Feb 16, 2023, from 4 until 8 PM. Cookie’s FUNERAL will begin on FRIDAY MORNING at 11 o’clock from the Funeral Home, followed by her FUNERAL MASS at 12 Noon at HOLY FAMILY PARISH – ST. MARIE’S CHURCH, corner of Chamberlai­n and Grafton Sts. LOWELL. Burial will follow in ST. MARY’S CEMETERY, N. TEWKSBURY.
