10 local teams make Central Mass. tournament­s

A total of 10 local teams are set to compete in Central Mass. Athletic Directors Associatio­n tournament­s.

The area will be represente­d by three boys hockey teams, four girls basketball squads and three boys basketball teams.

The Littleton/bromfield boys hockey team is the top seed in the Class C tournament. On the basketball side, Tyngsboro is the No. 2 seed in both the boys and girls basketball tournament­s.

Boys hockey

CLASS A >> North Middlesex (8-10) is the No. 5 seed. The Patriots will play a quarterfin­al round game Saturday at No. 4 Nashoba Regional. The game will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Northstar Ice Sports in Westboro.

The semifinals are set for Wednesday, Feb. 22, with the final slated for Friday, Feb. 24 at Northstar.

CLASS B >> Groton-dunstable (4-14) earned the No. 5 seed. The Crusaders will play a quarterfin­al on Saturday (7:40 p.m.) at No. 4 Valley Tech. The game will be held at the Worcester Ice Center.

The semifinals are Wednesday, Feb. 22, with the final scheduled for Friday, Feb. 24.

CLASS C >> Littleton/bromfield (11-6) has claimed the

No. 1 seed. The Tigers will play Wednesday, Feb. 22 against the winner of the Oakmont/lunenburg game.

Girls basketball

CLASS A >> North Middlesex (4-13) is the No. 6 seed. The Patriots will play a quarterfin­al round game at No. 3 Leominster, the date and time to be announced. CLASS C >> Tyngsboro (12-5) is the No. 2 seed, Littleton (13-3) the No. 3 seed and Ayer Shirley (14-3) the No. 5 seed.

On Sunday, Tyngsboro will host No. 7 Leicester at 7 p.m. in a quarterfin­al.

On Monday, in another quarterfin­al, Ayer Shirley will play at No. 4 Tahanto (5:30 p.m.), while Littleton will entertain No. 6 Hopedale (6 p.m.).

Semifinals are set for Feb. 21-23, with the finals to be played Feb. 24-26.

Boys basketball

CLASS C >>

Making the tournament bracket were No. 2 Tyngsboro (11-6), No. 5 Ayer Shirley (12-6) and No. 7 Littleton (3-13).

All three teams will be in action Sunday for quarterfin­al round games. At 3 p.m., Ayer Shirley will play at No. 4 Bartlett. At 5:30 p.m., Littleton will play at Tyngsboro.

Semifinals are slated for Feb. 21-23, with the finals set for Feb. 24-26.
