Public invited to see new sewer truck
LOWELL — The city invites the public to view a new sewer pipe line assessment and inspection camera vehicle on Tuesday, Feb. 28, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., City Hall, 375 Merrimack St. This is the latest acquisition by the Lowell Regional Wastewater Utility and will enable the department to conduct inhouse, mainline sewer inspections. The truck was purchased using American Rescue Plan Act funds, part of the almost $79 million allocated to the city. For information, call 978674-4248.
ARPA webinar for businesses
LOWELL — The city Department of Planning and Development hosts an Economic Development Grant informational webinar on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 4 p.m. The presentation will outline the eligibility and application process for the city’s American Rescue Plan Act funding for Lowell businesses that are seeking financial support to recover from or improve their operations POST-COVID. Following the presentation, participants will be invited to ask questions of the development staff.

Umass Lowell ‘Writers on Campus’ series
LOWELL — Two awardwinning writers who teach at Umass Lowell will read from and discuss their work at a free, on-campus event open to the public Wednesday, March 1, at 5:30 p.m., in the O’leary Library auditorium, Room 222, on
Umass Lowell’s South Campus at 61 Wilder St.
Novelist Andre Dubus III, who grew up in Haverhill, is the author of several works including New York Times bestseller “House of Sand and Fog,” and which was the basis for a film adaption starring Ben Kingsley and Jennifer Connelly, as well as “Gone So Long” and “Such Kindness,” which is slated for publication in June. Poet Sandra Lim is the author of “The Curious Thing” as well as “The Wilderness” and “Loveliest Grotesque.”
The authors will share the stage and their creative processes as part of Umass Lowell’s Writers on Campus
Series. Following their remarks, Dubus and Lim will answer questions from the audience, and their books will be available for signing and purchase. The event is presented by Umass Lowell’s English department. Free parking will be available in the Wilder Faculty Lot across the street from the venue. Anime Club at Tewksbury Library
TEWKSBURY — Students in grades 6 to 12 are invited to join Teen Librarian
Emily Leggat for snacks and anime at the in-person Anime Club, on Wednesday, March 1, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., in the Meeting Room of the Tewksbury Public Library, 300 Chandler St. This month’s program features a screening of the TV14 film “One Piece,” which follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his pirate crew in order to find the greatest treasure ever left by the legendary pirate Gold Roger. This program is supported by the Friends of the Tewksbury Public Library.
