LOWELL - Albert D. Souza, 82, a resident of Lowell, MA, passed away March 4, 2023 at Lahey Hospital following a long battle with cancer. After being born on Boston in 1940, Albert moved several times throughout the greater Boston area before settling and raising his family in Lowell. Albert was the beloved husband of the late Lorraine (Moynihan) Souza and devoted father of Michelle Natella, Karen Cawley, and Christine Gilligan.

Albert worked many careers throughout his life, including a long career at Wang Tech before eventually buying his own barbershop in Waltham- Frank’s Barber Shopwhere he worked for 30 years.

Albert enjoyed many things, most notably spending time outside and seeing his grandchild­ren. An avid athlete, Albert could be seen most weekends down at Shedd Park playing tennis, or, alternativ­ely, biking along the Chelmsford bike path where he enjoyed eating lunch at Heart Pond. On several occasions, he’d bring one of his grandchild­ren along with him, either coaching them on the tennis court or biking circles around them.

Albert is survived by his sister Carolina Campbell of New Hampshire, three daughters and son-in-laws Michelle and Nicholas Natella of Newburypor­t, Karen Cawley of Tewksbury, Christine and Thomas Gilligan of Lowell; seven grandchild­ren, Taylor Longo and her husband Larry, Nicholas Natella, Ryan Cawley, Jennifer Benham and her husband David, Katie, Emily and Liam Gilligan. Albert was predecease­d by his brother Joseph Souza, his son-in-law Ted Cawley, and his grandson Daniel Cawley.

Family and Friends are invited to attend Albert’s FUNERAL PRAYERS on WEDNESDAY MORNING at 11 AM at ST. JOSEPH’S CEMETERY CHAPEL 96 Riverneck Rd Chelmsford.
