Varnum Brook Elementary names two co-principals
PEPPERELL >> After a thorough search process, two co-principals have been appointed to lead Varnum Brook Elementary School.
In a press release, North Middlesex Regional School District Superintendent Brad Morgan said Ami Dolan and Meghan Branco would be leading the district’s largest elementary school located in Pepperell.
Dolan currently serves as the assistant principal at Varnum Brook. The district said she also comes to the role with experience as a teacher in Massachusetts and New York, as a literacy specialist and as an instructional coach “for many years.”
Branco is joining the North Middlesex Regional School District after serving as an assistant principal at the Lincoln School in Lowell. The district said she also has several years of experience in Waltham and Arlington, as well as teaching experience in Westford.
The district said the coprincipal model will allow both to effectively address staff and parent concerns, in addition to fostering a collaborative decision making process and utilizing the strengths both bring to the table for the school community’s benefit.
“We are excited about this new co-principal model, which has been highly successful in other districts both in Massachusetts and across the country,” Morgan said in the press release. “Ms. Dolan and Mrs. Branco both have a wealth of experience as instructional leaders that is also varied, which I am confident will provide a great balance and a solid team moving forward.”
Varnum Brook Elementary School is home to approximately 633 students in grades K-4.
