LOWELL >> A Lowell man claims he was stabbed numerous times by his neighbor while confronting him about “being creepy” for peeping in his windows, according to police reports.

Ricardo Solis, 59, was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for allegedly attacking his 47-year-old neighbor during the confrontation, leaving him with several lacerations to his back and neck, police reports state.

The injuries were described by Lowell Police as nonlife-threatening.

Police were first called for reports of a stabbing in the 100 block of Fletcher Street at around 4:50 a.m. Sunday. Police reports available in Lowell District Court documents state officers arrived on scene to find the alleged victim suffering from “numerous fresh lacerations of various lengths.”

According to police reports, the alleged victim identified his attacker as Solis, who officers took into custody at the scene without incident. Police said Solis was not in possession of any weapons when he was patted down by officers.

Solis had dried blood on his forearm, and a cuts to an elbow and a finger, according to police reports. Police said spots of blood were also discovered scattered on a porch outside Solis’ apartment, where the alleged victim claimed the stabbing occurred.

According to police reports, the alleged victim told police just prior to calling authorities, he had gone to Solis’ porch to confront him about “talking (expletive)” and “being creepy looking into his apartment windows.”

Police reports state the alleged victim claims Solis then “suddenly attacked and began cutting him as he attempted to defend himself.” The alleged victim told police he was unsure what weapon was used, but believed it to be a knife.

Solis allegedly told police he was not involved in the fight, and the man who was responsible had left the scene before police arrived.

Police reports state a witness who had been at Solis’ apartment at the time claimed the alleged victim had tried to enter the apartment through the porch

when a fight between the pair broke out. Police said the witness claimed he did not see a knife during the confrontation.

According to police reports, two other people were at Solis’ apartment at the time of the alleged stabbing. Police said one of them was uncooperative with officers, while the other told police that no assault had even taken place.

The alleged victim was transported to Lowell General Hospital Main Campus for treatment. Police reports state nursing staff described the wounds as “serious but not life threatening.” Considering the depth of the lacerations, police said a box cutter may have been used in the alleged attack.

Solis was arraigned by Judge John Coffey in Lowell District Court on Monday, where he was released under the conditions he stay away from and have no contact with the alleged victim.

Solis is scheduled to return to court for a pretrial hearing at 9 a.m. May 11.

Solis’ attorney, Erich Bryant, was not immediately available for comment.
