DORCHESTER & (MILFORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE) - Joseph passed unto the loving arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 14, 2023, 2 months shy of his 95th birthday.

Born in Lowell, Ma, 1928 to parents, Mary and Arthur Dillon who pre-deceased him along with siblings Edward and Mary. A graduate of St. Patrick’s Boys School, Keith Academy, St Anselm’s College and attended Boston College working towards his master’s degree. He also attended Catholic Seminary studying priesthood for 3 years, only to discover it wasn’t his calling. He remained strong in his faith and community to the Lord through life. He was active in St. Patrick’s Church Men’s Group where he raised his family and later St. Marks in Dorchester, MA, where he served on pastoral council, and St Vincent de Paul.

Joseph served a 4-year stint in the U.S. Navy as a medic and assistant chaplain during the Korean War. He was a proud of his Irish Heritage active in Irish Northern Aid Committee assisting the families of the Irish political prisoners (in Long Kesh concentrat­ion camps) in Northern Ireland. Joe was dignified, extremely compassion­ate and generous to the poor and suffering of the world and prayed constantly, often in Latin. After 34

1/2 years of marriage, Joe sadly laid his dear wife, Josephine (Conroy) to rest in April 2020. He was also pre-deceased by his first wife Evelyn (O’connor) Dillon with whom he had 6 children.

He is survived by his beloved only daughter, primary caregiver, and buddy, Shaelagh, with whom he shared many a laugh and prayers.

Also 5 Sons; Sean (Donna), Mark (Jen), Tim, Kerry, and Michael. Nine Grandchild­ren: his lovely granddaugh­ter Kaleigh Chamberlan­d,

And Grandsons; Tim A Lussier, Ryan, Matthew, Grant, and Greg Dillon, David, Thomas and

Jake Yandell. Also 5 Great Grandchild­ren, his niece, Mary Healy, as well as 3 step-nieces and 1 step nephew. Special thanks to all the caregivers for Joe, especially Heather H, Hospice,

VA of Manchester, Cosmic Care and the family members who helped.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Marks Church in Dorchester or the Irish Pastoral Centre (540 Gallivan Blvd, unit rear, Dorchester, MA 02124)

Joe will be waked at Mchoul Family Funeral Home (354 Adams Street, Dorchester, MA) from 9:30 am to 11:30 am followed by 12:00 pm Mass at St Marks (1725 Dorchester Ave, Dorchester, MA 02124). He will be interred at Cedar Grove Cemetery alongside his wife, Josephine.
