Hat’s Off Award

TEWKSBURY — The Tewksbury Rotary Club presents its March Hat’s Off Award to seniors Rebecca Kelleher and Harshit Pal. Hat’s Off is a joint initiative of the Tewksbury Rotary Club and Tewksbury Memorial High School, and recognizes students who have distinguis­hed themselves academical­ly, have contribute­d to the co-curricular program at the high school and have been actively involved in the community.

Rebecca, whose parents are Melissa and David Kelleher, is a member of the National Honor Society and a John and Abigail Adams Scholarshi­p recipient.

She played junior varsity lacrosse from 2020 to 2022, selected as team captain in 2022. Rebecca also played varsity field hockey from 2019 to 2023, serving as co-captain this year. The senior is active in the community, volunteeri­ng for the One Wish Project, as a volunteer coach for Tewksbury Field Hockey, a tutor for fourth-graders and was a vaccine clinic volunteer.

She has a high school work history that includes Market Basket, Circle Health Urgent Care and Lowell General Hospital as a dietary aide. She volunteers her time with the Tewksbury Food Pantry, the youth lacrosse clinic and as a National Honor Society tutor. Rebecca has been accepted at Umass Lowell, and will study nursing. She hopes to someday work as a pediatric nurse at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Harshit’s parents are Usha Roni and Kunal Pal. He is a member of the National Honor Society with a 4.3 GPA, and is a John and Abigail Adams Scholarshi­p recipient. He also played football during high school.

In addition to being elected this year’s class president, Harshit is the town’s student representa­tive for the Tewksbury Equity, Inclusion and Diversity Committee, a member of the student peer

mentoring program at the high school, and served as the student representa­tive for the Tewksbury superinten­dent search committee. Harshit volunteere­d at the Tewksbury Public Library and at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center as a messenger and patient guide his sophomore and junior years.

He received a full scholarshi­p to attend Tufts University, where he plans to major in political science and minor in finance to pursue a career in either law or business.

Tech night at the library
