- Staff report

Bryce Goulet rushed for a pair of touchdowns and threw for two more, tying a school record, while helping break another, as Tyngsboro toppled Groton-dunstable, 4422, on Thursday at Lawrence Academy in Groton.

Maintaining a 23-14 lead at intermission, Goulet (128 yards passing, 115 yards rushing) aired things out with a pair of TD passes, sending Andrew Duarte 14 yards into the end zone before finding Joe Nicosia with another 29yard dart in the third quarter, increasing the lead to 44-14.

The pass to Nicosia allowed Goulet to tie the school’s alltime career touchdown passes mark of 44. The signal-caller also hooked up with Tim Guilmette, who broke the school all-time career receptions record with 130.

Nicosia gave the Tigers (83) the lead, scoring off a 6-yard burst in the first quarter, complemented by Jake Hanne’s first of two extra-point kicks. Goulet got the ground game going a little later, jetting 72 yards to paydirt in the second quarter, while cashing in on a two-point conversion to hold the 15-0 lead. Goulet maintained plenty of offensive pressure, rolling 5 yards for the score in taking a 23-8 lead.

A late 17-yard TD pass by Groton-dunstable (0-12) senior quarterback Johnny Bordes (14-for-27 passing for 161 yards, two touchdowns) cut the deficit to 23-14 at halftime. Tyngsboro exploded for three more touchdowns in the third quarter, highlighted by Cadan Langenfeld’s backbreaking 69-yard dash to put the game out of reach.
