Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother
DRACUT - Julia (Eliopoulos) Devincenzi, beloved wife of Aldo A. Devincenzi passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, December 6th, 2023, three days short of her 95th birthday.
Born in Lowell on December 9th, 1928, to the late Christos and Stella (Petropoulakos) Eliopoulos, Julia was one of many brothers and sisters in a loving family of 7. Julia began her education at the Hellenic American Academy and later attended Lowell High School. Growing up, Julia was an avid dancer and would often go to the Commodore Ballroom to socialize with her friends and peers alike. It was here while jiving the jitterbug where she met Aldo who would later become her husband of an astounding 73 years. Although, to affirm their vows in the eyes of God as truth, the ceremony had to be performed at two separate churches. Religious differences necessitated that their union was blessed and acknowledged at both the Catholic and Greek Orthodox Churches. The doubly affirmed newlyweds later went on to have two wonderful daughters, and an amazing son.
As an adult, Julia was a lover of life and enjoyed many activities both social and personal. When she wasn’t taking care of her three children, she enjoyed gardening in her yard. The exterior of her much-loved home merely reflected the inside which was filled with joy, warmth, and lots of laughter. Special occasions weren’t the only reason for gathering as any night of the week could have ended with friends and family enjoying each other’s company.
If she wasn’t at home, Julia could often be found taking part in her favorite sport of golf and was a member of the Vesper and Long Meadow Country Clubs. It was here where she developed a keen love of the game and would often participate in tournaments with her friends and family. She was endlessly proud that her three children passed on her enduring love of golf to all their children including her great-grandchildren.
Aside from taking care of her family and home, Julia derived great pleasure playing cards with family and friends. She particularly enjoyed 45’s, especially Monday nights with the Girls at Longmeadow. She and her trusted friends would often take part in card tournaments both friendly and competitive. Julia loved to frequent the casinos to test her luck on the slot machines and never missed playing her daily numbers,
After a day out it wasn’t uncommon for Julia and her husband Aldo to invite you over to their home for a hot meal and nice glass of wine. Although, space was limited when it came to her treasured Saturday breakfast, where she was known to sit and gossip over numerous cups of coffee with her two confidantes and partners-in-crime, Cay and Lorraine. If after a few hours they needed a change in scenery, the three would take a quick walk across the street where Cay’s kitchen provided the space for the next round of conversation to dissect the happenings of their lives. If you were able to eavesdrop on one of these confidential exchanges you would quickly realize the candid quality of Julia’s humor. Her wit was sharp as a knife, and she coolly used her command of words to provide you with her exclusive perspective of how she saw the world. This singular point of view from our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother is what we lost this past Wednesday. Julia will be dearly missed by everyone who had the utmost pleasure to meet her.
Julia is survived by her devoted husband Aldo, her two caring daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Tim Green of Dracut, Leeann and Dennis Conners of Lowell; five grandchildren and their spouses, Chris and Amy Green of Lowell, Leah and John Micalizzi of Sugar Hill, NH, Brittany Devincenzi of Westboro, Brett Devincenzi of Mount Vernon, NH and Nikolas Devincenzi of Madrid, Spain; several great grandchildren; a younger brother Peter Eliopoulos of Lowell; and several nieces and nephews. Julia was predeceased by her beloved son Michael and his wife Stacy. Julia was also the sister of the late George and Eva Eliopoulos, and Dickie Rigs.
The family would like to thank the Nurses and caretakers at Douville Senior Care. for the care and kindness they gave to Julia.

Relatives and friends are invited to Julia’s visitation on Monday, December 11th in the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 62 Lewis Street, Lowell from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
