Freshman Maier (20 points) fuels Dracut

Kaylee Maier didn’t play like a freshman Friday night.

Maier guided the Dracut High girls basketball team to a strong 64-48 win over Lawrence during Merrimack Valley Conference action.

The guard scored a season-high 20 points for Dracut, which led 37-26 at halftime. Senior guard Lamees Alasaad was also tremendous with 19 points.

LYNN TECH 57, NDA 25 >> Despite a 10-point effort from Jackie Martineau, the Academy of Notre Dame dropped the CAC encounter.

Chloe Mccomas added seven points for the Lancers.

LOWELL 31, TEWKSBURY 22 >> In a low-scoring MVC affair, host Lowell received an outstandin­g game from Emerson Webb to post the win.

Webb sparked the victory with 12 points and 14 rebounds, while Deb Kisekka added 10 points. Quinn Mcdonald shined in crunch time, scoring all of her nine points in the final quarter.

NASHOBA 46, MINUTEMAN 29 >> The Vikings handed Minuteman Tech its first league loss of the season as Sadie Tracy produced a monster game with 15 points, eight rebounds, six steals and five blocks.

Ashley Hart compiled 11 points and Nasta Koyutis added eight points. Aaliya Smith was part a great team defensive effort and tallied 9 blocks and six rebounds for Nashoba Tech (7-6).

LITTLETON 71, MAYNARD 42 >> The Tigers received double-digit scoring from three players to register an easy Mid-wach victory.

Becca Fusco led the scoring parade for Littleton (11-3) with 17 points, while Annabelle Caouette was right behind with 16 points. Victoria Mccoy also made an impact with 13 points.

CHELMSFORD 62, HAVERHILL 22 >> On Senior Night, seniors led the way for the victorious Lions in the MVC battle.

Senior Bridget Trainor poured home a game-high 21 points, while classmates Mary Keohane and Katie Higgins each tallied nine points. M.A. Neykova tallied 11 points for Chelmsford (9-6).

LC 40, MYSTIC VALLEY 31 >> In front of a packed house at Keith Gymnasium, host Lowell Catholic overcame a three-point halftime deficit and pulled away in the fourth quarter for the CAC Large victory, its fifth in the last six games.

Seventh-grader Janae Holmes had a game-high 22 points to lead LC (8-6, 6-2 CAC Large). Meredith Morey led a staunch defense with four steals and eight rebounds to go with seven points. Rylie Hogan chipped in with six points. CENTRAL 59, METHUEN 48 >> Central Catholic used a dominant 20-9 fourth quarter to pull out the MVC victory.

Kerri Finneran led with 20 points and nine rebounds. Aniela Kwo had 11 points and 14 rebounds, and Abigail Dick chipped in with 11 points for Central

(12-3).

SHEPHERD HILL 49, NM 20 >> North Middlesex got off to a solid start on the road in Dudley, but powerful Shepherd Hill dominated the second quarter and never looked back.

For the Patriots (3-10), Olivia Marquis netted a 3-pointer and scored a team-high seven points. CAMBRIDGE 53, WESTFORD 41 >> Westford Academy returned from Cambridge with a Dual County League defeat. MARLBORO 66, G-D 36 >> Host Marlboro ran out to leads of 14-4 after one quarter and 34-10 at halftime to bury Groton-dunstable during the Midwach clash.

For the Crusaders (310), Allegra Gutermann managed a team-high 13 points, while Mackenzie Pauly (10 points) also reached double figures. BILLERICA 51, NO. ANDOVER 43 >> The Indians kept rolling with a tough MVC road victory over North Andover.

WILMINGTON 46, WATERTOWN 39 >> The Wildcats played tough defense all game and pulled out the Middlesex League win.

Boys basketball

TYNGSBORO 55, QUABBIN 38 >> The Tigers sprinted out to a 32-22 halftime lead and then extended their advantage in the second half in the Mid-wach meeting.

Hot-shooting Ryan Manning led the offense with four 3-pointers and 18 points. TJ Bradford was immense with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Also shining for Tyngsboro were Bryce Goulet (8 points, 6 assists, 4 steals) and Gavin Familia (8 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists).

BILLERICA 60, LOWELL 57 >> The Indians pulled off a MVC upset of high-powered Lowell, which was coming off a big win over Lawrence. Billerica led 2821 at halftime and 46-38 entering the fourth quarter.

For Lowell, Tzar Powell-aparicio led the way with 19 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Juan Beltres Diaz tallied 12 points, while Gezzian Vega earned nine points. METHUEN 64, TEWKSBURY 46 >> The Redmen dropped the Merrimack Valley Conference clash despite a strong offensive game from Luke Montejo.

Montejo registered 17 of his team-high 25 points in the second half. The Redmen trailed 41-30 entering the fourth.

LYNN TECH 61, SHAWSHEEN 44 >> The Rams couldn’t get their offense untracked and fell in Commonweal­th Athletic Conference play.

Shawsheen Tech (95, 5-3 league) has three league games next week. PELHAM 75, SANBORN 46 >> The Pythons came out shooting, scoring 25 points in the first quarter, en route to the NHIAA Div. 2 win. Pelham also scored 25 points in the third quarter.

Zach James, fresh off scoring his 1,000th point, led Pelham (12-3, 11-1 league) with 27 points and six 3-pointers. Dom Herrling chipped in 19 key points and dished out five assists. Logan Dumont ripped down 10 rebounds. IA 69, NASHOBA TECH 51 >> Innovation Academy collected its 10th victory to punch its ticket to the state tournament by downing the Vikings.

Derrick Twum and Bryce Kankam were both outstandin­g for the Hawks (10-5, 5-2). Twum tallied 23 points, six rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Kankam was immense with 22 points and four rebounds. Sam Horace responded with 10 points, nine rebounds, eight steals and four assists.

WATERTOWN 64, WILMINGTON 60 >> The Wildcats put up quite the fight, but in the end Watertown netted the Middlesex League win. CAMBRIDGE 47, WESTFORD 43 >> The Ghosts lost a spirited Dual County League clash at home during a Pink Out game for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Boston returns to Profession­al Women’s Hockey League action Sunday (3:30 p.m.) by hosting Montreal at the Tsongas Center in Lowell.

It will be Boston’s seventh game in franchise history. Boston (4-2) is tied for third with 10 points, five behind Montreal, which is tied for first place and has played two more games. In a Jan. 13 clash, Boston defeated Montreal, 3-2.

Alina Muller leads Boston in scoring. Her nine points tie her for the league lead with New York’s Alex Carpenter and her seven assists lead the league.

College soccer

NU HIRES BONOMO >> Director of Athletics and Recreation Jim Madigan announced the hiring of Jeremy Bonomo as the next men’s soccer head coach at Northeaste­rn University. Bonomo is the eighth head coach in program history and joins the Huskies following nine seasons as the head coach at Green Bay.

Bonomo is a native of Pelham, N.H.

Bonomo, a two-time Horizon League Coach of the Year honoree during his nine seasons at Green Bay, guided the Phoenix to its first conference championsh­ip title and NCAA tournament appearance in more than a decade during the 2023 season. Green Bay went 10-4-5 last fall.

Bonomo played at New Hampshire College (now Southern New Hampshire University), where he captained the team to three NCAA Tournament­s, including two NCAA Quarterfin­al appearance­s and a national runner-up in 2002.
