Dracut boys volleyball team nets marathon win

The Dracut High boys volleyball team got the 2024 season started off on the right foot with a 3-2 victory over Bellingham on Thursday night.

The Middies won a tight 18-25, 26-24, 11-25, 25-17, 16-14 contest.

Pacing Dracut with 10 kills, 12 digs and eight service points was Audom Mok. Also starring was Britton Scott with seven kills, 11 blocks and seven service points. Tristan Sou chipped in 15 assists, 15 service points, five aces and 10 digs. INNOVATION 3, EXCEL ACADEMY 2 >> Like the Middies, Innovation Academy captured a marathon 25-19, 27-29, 25-21, 25-27, 15-8 victory to open strongly.

Innovation was led by Monireach Kong, who had 10 kills, 10 aces and six digs. Ayden Rogers added 11 kills and three aces, while Luke Williams was a catalyst in the tight victory with nine kills and five blocks. AYER SHIRLEY 3, BAY PATH 1 >> Junior outside hitter Miles Pyatt compiled nine kills and two aces to spark Ayer Shirley to the season-opening win.

The Panthers won 2323, 25-16, 27-25, 25-15. Senior

right side and setter David Batchelor starred with six kills, three aces and 12 assists, while senior middle hitter Dodge Degagne contribute­d three kills and six blocks. CENTRAL 3, GR. LAWRENCE 0 >> Central Catholic opened the season with a strong 25-21, 25-16, 2624 non-league victory.

Leading the Raiders with 11 kills apiece were Deryl Atem and Jaithian

Median. Atem also led in blocks (5) and aces (3), while Median led with 19 digs. Also shining were Michael Nguyen with 31 assists and Aidan Herries with 12 service points.

NORTH MIDDLESEX 3, WESTFORD 2 >> The Patriots journeyed to Westford and pulled out a tough 25-21, 21-25, 25-27, 25-21, 15-9 victory in the opener for both schools.
