Daffodil Day raises $5,500

LOWELL » The Lowell General Hospital Auxiliary thanks everyone who participat­ed in Daffodil Day. Through their generous support, the Auxiliary raised $5,500 to support cancer patients at Lowell General.

Daffodil Day is an annual fundraiser in which the Auxiliary sells bunches of daffodils and mini potted daffodils. One hundred percent of the proceeds support the hospital’s cancer patients.

Brush chipping for Westford residents

WESTFORD » The Westford Recycling Commission will hold a brush chipping day for town residents on Saturday, April 20, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm at the Westford

Highway Garage at 28 North St.

Proof of Westford residency is required.

Brush and branches up to 3 inches in diameter and 10 feet in length will be accepted. Must be average residentia­l brush and reasonable amounts: A load ranges from a trunk to pickup truck volume; includes tow behind a full trailer.

Building materials (such as fences and boards), land clearing materials and debris (roots, bushes, anything mixed with poison ivy), grass and leaves will not be accepted.

The cost is $10 per load, payable only by check made out to the Town of Westford.

Checks must be deposited in the marked container on site.

Townsend to celebrate Earth Day

TOWNSEND » The town will celebrate Earth Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at the North Middlesex Regional High School parking lots, located at 19 Main St.

Visitors will enjoy crafters, vendors, nonprofits, entertainm­ent, animals, a plant and seed swap, and delicious food.

Local sponsors will collect good clothing and textiles, returnable cans and bottles, printer cartridges, eclipse glasses, used K-cups, chip bags, and eyeglasses. Free document shredding will be available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

New this year will be a child thrift clothing area. Attendees are welcome to bring usable clothing and switch out for items in the size they need.
