Mary Monica Amatulli, age 86, passed away on June 21, 2022, in Riverside, California. Born On December 4, 1935, in Yakima, Washington, Monica was the daughter of Hillis Stewart Betts and Eda Helen (Mosebar) Betts. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Ann Marie Madera, Mary Elizabeth Betts, Patricia Maher, and William Betts. She attended Sacred Heart School of Nursing in Spokane, Washington, graduating August of 1957. She served as a Registered Nurse for over 45 years in both Ohio and California before retiring from Riverside Community Hospital in 2000 after 30 years of service.

Monica married Anthony P. Amatulli on January 25, 1958, in Yakima, Washington. They shared 63 happy years together, enjoying their 5 children, 12 grandchild­ren, and 8 great-grandchild­ren. All five kids survive to celebrate her life: Anthony J., Vincent (Denise), Peter (Shelley), Monica Ann Kantola (Jon), and Thomas (Laurie). Grandchild­ren: Morgan Digman (Kevin), Alexander (Melissa), Anthony “AJ” and Sydnee; Neil Black, Amber Brewer (Derek) & Gary (Nicole) Black; Mary-Frances, Kathryn & Matthew Kantola; Ashlee & Alexa Amatulli. Great-grandchild­ren: Lucas & Declan Digman; Austin & Jackson Brewer; Marley, Lennon, and Ellie Black; and Grayson Ecclefield (Alexa).

A member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church for 53 years, Monica volunteere­d as a nurse for annual fiestas, and served as a member of the church decorating committee helping with holiday flower arrangemen­ts and sewing drapes, altar cloths, and banners many of which are still used today. Monica had many hobbies including bowling in St. Thomas Church leagues, golfing in the hospital leagues and with her family, skiing, gardening & sewing. She was always up for an adventure!

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 16th at Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church (3774 Jackson Ave, Riverside, CA). Rosary starts promptly at 9:30 AM followed by a funeral mass and reception in the hall. Interment at Riverside National Cemetery will be on Monday, July 18th at 9:30 AM.
