Root Beer Float Day

-

Driving around the Inland Empire recently, I spotted a few new eateries getting ready to open, so let’s take a look at those, as well as others we’ve been anticipating.

Starting in Colton, La Sexy Michelada is preparing to open its newest location.

It’s the latest in a string of (mostly) Mexican restaurants to occupy the building at 889 Valley Blvd.

The chain currently has a location at 18150 Arrow Blvd., Suite I, Fontana, as well as in Monrovia and Whittier.

In Fontana, Star Crab is planning to open in the former Sizzler restaurant at 9860 Sierra Ave.

I’m guessing the opening is imminent since the chain’s website lists the location’s hours: Noon10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and noon-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The chain also has locations in Riverside, San Bernardino and Upland.

In Grand Terrace, construction is rapidly progressing on Terrace Plaza at 22200 Barton Road.

The center was originally expected to open last year.

The center will be home to Piara Pizza, Wingstop and two other as-yet-unnamed restaurants.

Thanks to reader Rod for the reminder about Terrace Plaza.

In Corona, we’re anticipating the opening of the Inland Empire’s fourth Roll Em Up Taquitos at 870 N. Main St., Corona.

It shares a building with a recently-opened Habit Burger Grill, which will be open 10:30 a.m.-10 p.m. daily.

In addition to its original location in Chino Hills, Rll Em Up also has locations in Victorville and Colton.

Gluten-free option available

Marco’s Pizza has a new gluten-free option.

Last week, the chain rolled out new cauliflower crusts — supplied by Caulipower — as a year-round menu option.

Through Aug. 31, the pizzeria is giving guests an incentive to try the new crust by offering 25% off any cauliflower crust pizza on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

To receive the discount, simply use the promo code CAULI.

Inland Empire Marco’s locations include Temecula, Upland, Menifee, Murrieta, Hemet and Hesperia. A Winchester location is in the works.

National Root Beer Float Day isn’t until Aug. 6, but A&W Restaurants already is celebrating.

Guests who sign up for the chain’s Mug Club will receive a coupon for a free small root beer float, valid any day through Aug. 6.

The chain is using the giveaway as a fundraiser for Disabled American Veterans, actively soliciting donations to the organization.

The organization’s purpose, according to its website, is empowering veterans to lead high-quality lives with respect and dignity.

Inland Empire locations include Mentone, Baker and Yermo.
