Library offers CAreer Pathways job training resources

- From staff reports

The San Bernardino Public Library is among the libraries in California offering CAreer Pathways, a suite of online job training, test preparation and professional development tools.

The CAreer Pathways tools can help people learn skills including bookkeeping and data analytics; help people prepare for job-related exams in fields including health care and firefighting; and help in creating résumés and improving job-interview skills.

The CAreer Pathways resources would cost $1,000 or more for people to subscribe to on their own, but with a library card, library patrons can use CAreer Pathways tools at no cost, either in person at the library or remotely, according to a news release.

The online resources, available in a variety of languages, include Coursera, GetSetUp, LearningExpress Library Complete, LinkedIn Learning, Northstar, Skillshare and VetNow.

“Californians are getting back to work, and their libraries are here to help,” Greg Lucas, California state l librarian, said in the news release. “Together, California’s public libraries are collaborating with other local partners to build a thriving California for all.”

The project is supported in whole or in part by funding provided by the state of California and is administered by the California State Library. A two-year investment of $10.2 million by Gov. Gavin Newsom allows these services to be offered for free to any Californian with a library card. The California State Library is working with the Pacific Library Partnership to provide these resources through California public libraries.
