Ellis program gets award
A program in the Sunnyvale School District is among five programs to receive the Glenn W. Hoffmann Award this year from the Santa Clara County School Boards Association. The awards honor programs that significantly impact student success in local schools and school districts.
The award honors the
Units of Study in Reading, Writing and Phonics at Ellis Elementary School. With the Hoffmann Award, ASSIST is now a candidate for the Kristi Porter Outstanding Program Award, which will be announced at the association’s virtual Zoom celebration on Wednesday, April 28.
EnActe season
EnActe Arts opened its 2021 season March 26 with a virtual production of “Framroze Mansion” by Rahul daCunha. The play tracks the reactions of four siblings living in different parts of the world after they find out their mother has changed her will. Tickets are $10 at Eventbrite.com.
EnActe is also offering season passes to its productions for the rest of the year. The passes are $100 at Eventbrite. com; proceeds will support the company’s artists and production staff.
Emergency prep
Bay Area Older adults is hosting a virtual presentation on “All You Need to Know to Prepare for Emergencies” on April 8, 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m.
This free seminar will cover the most important steps to take to be more prepared for a disaster like the California wildfires or earthquakes, focusing on actions such as building a support network, receiving emergency notifications and creating an emergency plan.
