Ellis program gets award

A program in the Sunnyvale School District is among five programs to receive the Glenn W. Hoffmann Award this year from the Santa Clara County School Boards Associatio­n. The awards honor programs that significan­tly impact student success in local schools and school districts.

The award honors the

Units of Study in Reading, Writing and Phonics at Ellis Elementary School. With the Hoffmann Award, ASSIST is now a candidate for the Kristi Porter Outstandin­g Program Award, which will be announced at the associatio­n’s virtual Zoom celebratio­n on Wednesday, April 28.

EnActe season

EnActe Arts opened its 2021 season March 26 with a virtual production of “Framroze Mansion” by Rahul daCunha. The play tracks the reactions of four siblings living in different parts of the world after they find out their mother has changed her will. Tickets are $10 at Eventbrite.com.

EnActe is also offering season passes to its production­s for the rest of the year. The passes are $100 at Eventbrite. com; proceeds will support the company’s artists and production staff.

Emergency prep

Bay Area Older adults is hosting a virtual presentati­on on “All You Need to Know to Prepare for Emergencie­s” on April 8, 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m.

This free seminar will cover the most important steps to take to be more prepared for a disaster like the California wildfires or earthquake­s, focusing on actions such as building a support network, receiving emergency notificati­ons and creating an emergency plan.
