Wildlife Center celebrates open house
The New Mexico Wildlife Center near Española invites the public to an open house Oct. 6 - 7 from 11 a.m. to
3 p.m. for its annual open house. This is an opportunity for the public to meet many species of native wildlife up close and enjoy an afternoon of fun designed for all ages.
This year’s event will begin Saturday morning with a special ribbon-cutting dedicating the new home of one of the center’s most beloved Animal Ambassadors and longtime resident, Sly, a redeared slider turtle. Other attractions at the two-day event will include:
• Live animal demonstrations
• Games and activities for all ages
• Wildlife hospital tours ($3 or bring an item from our wish list*)
• Garden tours
• Frito pie fundraiser Although there is no charge for the event, there is a suggested donation of $5 per vehicle. This event is a fundraiser for New Mexico Wildlife Center, a non-profit organization supported entirely through donations and grants. The Wildlife Center rescues and rehabilitates wildlife, returning them when healthy to their native habitats. Over the decades, the center has rescued bears, eagles, deer, owls and more.
