TSV opens slowly but surely
After months of hiatus due to COVID-19 closures, Taos Ski Valley Inc. will begin a phased reopening of the outdoor area.
Starting this week, the main Taos Sports retail store at the base of the ski valley is now open but the Taos Ski Valley resort will not be offering food or beverage service.
On July 1, The Bavarian will open for limited outdoor dining only and Chair 4 will begin spinning to take visitors for scenic views. The satellite Taos Sports store near Lift 4 will also open that day as well.
The Blake will open for customers but at half capacity on July 1.
Rhoda's will open for limited outdoor service on July 15 along with the Green Chile Flow Trail for mountain bikes.
Taos Ski Valley will be following the state of New Mexico's emergency health order and will require all employees and guests to wear masks.
Visitors must wear masks at all times in a public setting unless they are at a table eating or participating in an exercise activity.
Gatherings of five or more people are prohibited in the state and at Taos Ski Valley and the company will allow for larger groups only if a family contains more than five people.
Taos Ski Valley is requesting that all visitors maintain social distancing and keep six feet of distance between themselves and ski valley employees.
Village of Taos Ski Valley Mayor Christof Brownell enacted an emergency order in March closing all nonessential businesses in the area and strongly discouraged travel into the ski valley. Those who entered and were not living in the area were held to a 14-day quarantine to ensure they were not bringing the virus into the valley.
The executive order has since been lifted and the village is also following the state's guidelines on reopening.
