Ski valley bears down on order
The village council of Taos Ski Valley voted unanimously on Thursday (July 2) to mandate masks be worn in public.
Following the state’s new public health order, the council adopted a resolution to their own health order requiring all members of the public to wear a face covering.
All visitors and residents of Taos Ski Valley over the age of 5 years old will be required to wear a mask at all times in public places. Exceptions will only be made when people are eating, drinking or exercising.
Taos Ski Valley is also encouraging visitors and locals to practice social distancing by remaining at least 6 feet apart from one another.
Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham signed a new public health order Wednesday (July 1) imposing a $100 fine on those who violate the state’s order. Masks must be work in all public settings statewide, according to the governor.
In addition, the order calls for a 14-day mandatory quarantine for those traveling from out of state into New Mexico. Exemptions are made for people traveling on essential business, such as work in the medical field.
