Peggy Kathryn Cross

-

Left us on July 1st, 2020, following a year and a half battle with lung cancer. She lived 76 full and interesting years. She left behind two wonderful pets that have found good homes. Peggy was the smart, inquisitive and spunky sister we all loved to adventure with. She was artistic, and often an activist who cared deeply about her community and animals. She was also infamously argumentative –never lost a debate! The first half of Peg’s life was a roller-coaster ride filled with multiple, wild, life changing experiences, including a youthful, but short marriage that resulted in two sons, Michael Stone, Jr. (and his three children, Rowan, Karley & Kayla) and Scott Stone (wife Sherry and two children, Scott, Jr. and Melissa). The last portion of her life was spent happily in Questa, New Mexico with her second husband, Frank “Happ” Cross, Jr. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Happ. She is survived by the two sons and their families as mentioned above and will be fondly remembered by an extended family that includes four siblings - Sally Hawkins, Jim Cochran, Jean Ann Chaffee and Susie Hale - plus a long list of nieces and nephews. There are also numerous neighbors, friends and recently, caregivers who will remember Peggy. We are very grateful for all those people that helped us and Peggy during her last days. Folks that come to mind are her neighbor, Holly Howard who watched over Peggy and her pets daily; her caregiver, Jonathon who shared a weekly burger and good conversation; local friend Jason from the Thrift store; and Ci Ci who frequently made her special cherry pies. Peggy will be missed! Stay tuned for future Memorial plans. Arrangements by Rivera Family Funeral Home, Taos. To share a memory, please visit our website at www.riverafuneralhome.com
