• Magpie Taos gallery in the Overland Sheepskin complex on Paseo del Pueblo Norte has closed and owner, Georgia Gersh, is in no hurry to find another location. “I am a big fan of following one’s instincts and right now, mine is saying not to reopen if I don’t have to,” notes Gersh. In her attempts to continue to support her many artists, she will be posting collection­s available regularly starting at the end of this month on Facebook and Instagram. • “Taos Art Insurgency: The New Protagonis­ts” gets going this Saturday (July 18) at the spaces of Wilder Nightingal­e Fine Art, Dragonfly Blue and Greg Moon Art galleries, along Kit Carson Road. The show will be up until Aug. 2. Restrictio­ns on masks and the number of persons allowed in each of the galleries at a time will be strictly enforced. • Allan Packer, a Canadian artist who lives and works in Taos, has been working on new dimensiona­l paintings and silkscreen prints “that capture the tension of our current existence.” Packer is known for his painted, shaped canvases, often motorized in kinetic motion. See more at apacker. com.

• Dane Spangler’s high-resolution panoramas of U.S. National Parks are on view from July 18 through the end of the month at Sage Fine Art Gallery, 115C East Taos Plaza. Spangler uses a high-resolution profession­al digital camera and a panoramic tripod head to create breathtaki­ng, detailed images.
