Tree seedling sale ends Oct. 9

More than 20,000 tree and shrub seedlings available to order online

Time is running out for property owners who want to purchase tree and shrub seedlings from the state Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department Forestry Division.

The fall seedling sale ends Oct. 9. More than 20,000 tree and shrub seedlings from the Conservati­on Seedling Program are available to order online. All revenue from sales of seedling go back into the program, which is designed to help landowners address erosion and promote wildlife habitat.

Seedling species available include Afghanista­n pine, Apache plume, Arizona walnut, Austrian pine, four-wing saltbush, little leaf sumac, Douglas fir, piñon pine and ponderosa pine. Some seedlings may be in limited quantities.

One-year-old, small container seedlings (10-cubic-inch container) of the same species are available in minimum lots of 49 for $80. Two-season, large container seedlings (40-cubic-inch container) are available in lots of 20 for $57. There is a $5 handling fee per order and an additional $10 fee per lot for all UPS orders.

All sales are final. Shipping and curbside pickup at the Forestry Division seedling warehouse, 3250 Calle Princessa Juana, in Santa Fe, takes place through Oct. 16. Seedlings can be picked up at the warehouse, Thursdays and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. – noon and 1 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. For customer and employee safety, warehouse pickup is by appointmen­t only and will be scheduled by phone or email once orders are placed.

COVID-19 protocols will be followed, including requiring face masks and maintainin­g social distancing of 6 feet.

Conservati­on Seedling program requiremen­ts and ordering informatio­n is available on the Forestry Division website at emnrd.state. nm.us/SFD. Methods of online payment include Discover Card, Mastercard or Visa Card. Checks are accepted with mail-in applicatio­n forms, which can be downloaded from the website.
