Taos News wins general excellence, public service
Taos News won the coveted General Excellence award for Class I weekly newspapers in the New Mexico Press Association’s Better Newspaper Contest.
The newspaper also won the Public Service Award and staff also took home 18 first-place and more than a dozen second-place awards in the advertising, website, photography and editorial categories.
“Winning the General Excellence award never gets old,” said Taos News publisher Chris Baker. “It’s especially gratifying given the competition, which includes the Las Cruces News-Bulletin. It gives me great pleasure to know that every week our readers hold in their hands the best weekly newspaper in the state of New Mexico and in the United States.”
Taos News also won the Best Weekly of its size award from the National Newspaper Association earlier this year.
The Oklahoma Press Association rated the entries for this year’s Better Newspaper Contest for the New Mexico Press Association.
