The Taos News

Churches around the Taos Valley vary on how they are handling in-person services and ministeries during the current increase in COVID-19 cases around the county.

-

Most are holding virtual services online for the time being.

Here are a few based on information provided on church websites.

OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE PARISH, TAOS

Public Mass stopped indefinitely after Oct. 25. Sunday Mass is livestreamed virtually from a link on the website. The obligation to attend Sunday Mass and Mass for Holy Days of Obligation also has been suspended. Liturgies will only take place until further notice in the main church downtown; capillas (small chapels) “may not be used given their limited capacity.”

All church buildings are currently closed to visitors. Confessions will continue to be heard by appointment only. Email revdannyg@icloud.com. Ministeries can continue to meet in person but with a limit of five people and in a space that allows for sixfoot distancing between participants. Weddings and funerals are limited to a maximum of 10 people. Only parents and godparents are allowed to attend baptisms.
