Glodina “Dina” Rivera Peck and Theodore “Ted” Rivera

It is in sadness, but great memories, that we note the passing of brother and sister, Glodina “Dina” Rivera Peck of San Diego and her brother Theodore “Ted” Rivera of Denver. Dina and Ted are survived by 5 siblings, Johnny Rivera of Colorado Springs. Leroy “Ric” Rivera (Mary), of Denver, Tom Rivera (Fina) of Denver, Carmen Rivera Chavez (Rey) of Sante Fe, NM, and Michael Rivera (Donna) of pleasant Hill, CA. Ted and Dina join their parents Simonita & Thomas Rivera. grandparents Narciso & Rumaldita Rivera, Ted’s wife Florence Mondragon Rivera. Dina passed away peacefully on September 9, 2020. She was born May 15, 1935 in Taos, NM, where she graduated from Taos High School in 1953. She lived most of her life in Colorado Springs where she was employed in District Court as a Jury Commissioner. Upon retirement, she briefly worked at Broadmoor Hotel as a Concierge after which she moved to San Diego to be close to her daughters. Dina was known as a “Peoples Person” making friends, whether dancing, singing or just plan visiting. She could frequently be found fishing with her mom or brother at Rampart Range, and she loved the beach. She is survived by her daughters, Christine Montoya Gerenscer (Paul), Debbie A. Rivera, and Crystal Bonetto (Mike), her granddaughters, Julianna and Alessandra Bonetto. Her daughters and granddaughters were the light of her life. Ted passed away peacefully on September 30, 2020. Ted was born October 18, 1936 in Taos, NM. Ted graduated from Taos High School in 1955. While in high school, Ted and his brothers traveled to Colorado Springs to work building the Air Force Academy. Ted tried out for professional baseball and played some minor league baseball in Florida. He played in a semi-pro basketball league in Colorado. While living in Utah, he saved a train from derailing after some errant older boys had thrown a manual switch. At 12 years old he struggled to switch it back, and as he did, the train was visible near the crossing. He eventually moved to Denver where he received many awards for his company, Rio Grande Food Distribution in Denver. Ted loved cheering for the Denver Broncos with a group of friends and relatives and enjoying a meal of anything New Mexican. Like Dina, no one was a stranger to him. Ted is survived by his daughters Pamela Rivera, Diedra Rivera Becker (John), and son Steve Rivera. Grandchildren, Daniella, Nicholas and fiancé. Angela, Ryan, Andrew, Haley, Lauren, and great granddaughter, Lena Rose. Due to Coronavirus, celebrations of life will be at a later date.
