Fr. Francis Malley

-

Our beloved Pastor Father Francis Malley went to meet the glory of God on October 21, 2020. Father Malley was appointed Pastor of San Francisco de Asis Parish in Ranchos de Taos, NM in January 2005 and served until approximately 2011. He emigrated to the U.S. in 1976 from Scotland and was an Educator at Sandia Preparatory School in ABQ for 20 years and at various other educational positions. He earned his first Master of Arts Degree from St. John‘s College in Santa Fe. In 2001 Father Malley was ordained to the priesthood in Santa Fe after earning his Master of Divinity Degree in Theology at Holy Apostles Seminary in Cromwell, Connecticut. Father Francis also served as Pastor at five other Parishes in the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. In 2011 Father Malley was offered the San Jose Parish in Cerrillos, NM a smaller parish, after suffering a heart attack. This parish had two smaller missions each 30 miles apart to which he traveled regularly. After a year, he was beginning to feel the strain of travel. Having passed 70 years of age and with the advice of his doctor, Father Malley retired. Father Malley, was a generous man of great faith, deeply concerned with meeting the needs of those in his care, be-it school children, parishioners, fellow seminarians, or the community he served. He put their needs before his own. His kind, humble demeanor and deep melodic Scottish accent quickly earned him the affection, love, and respect of his parishioners. Father Malley embraced our Taos customs and traditions, actively promoting and participating in our annual church “enjarre” (mudding), “las posadas” (a religious Christmas celebration) and the Lenten observance of the Hermanos Penitentes. As a Parish Priest, Father Malley devoted his life to God and his parishioners. His life’s work precluded him from having a family or the financial means to assist him with medical and funeral expenses once he retired. Therefore, we must humbly ask your assistance and generosity by contributing to the “Father Francis-Malley-GoFundMe Campaign” to assist with these expenses. Thank you, for your kind attention and help. Donations can be sent to: Father Francis Malley GoFundMe Campaign.
