‘I had been single for 30-some years. I didn’t have much patience and never thought
I’d be able to love anybody again. I just thought I was too old. It wasn’t going to happen.’
“Then I was bartending at the Taos Country Club and she came in one Friday when the band was playing, with three girls that worked for her. She walked in, and I’m behind the bar, and I looked at her and everything else disappeared. All I saw was this halo around her face.
“So she came back like three Friday Happy Hours in a row and I said, Would you want to meet? She said,
Well, where do you go? I said, Well we could meet at the Alley. I usually go to the Alley Cantina. So I met her there, and she was sitting with her girlfriends across the room. So I finally went over, sat down and talked to her and walked her to her car. And when her friend went down to get in the passenger seat, we kissed and I told her, You’re the one. So whenever you’re ready, you just let me know.”
“And I’ve been in love with her ever since. We’ve been married 15 years.”
