Paseo youth STEAM night
The Paseo Project and artist Morgan Barnard present the ‘Spirit of Light’
PASEO PROJECT invites you to celebrate the spirit of light during your holidays with the launch of their virtual youth STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) education program. Light symbolizes new beginnings, renewal and growth; and inspired by New Mexico artist Morgan Barnard, “Creating Art
STEAM (SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, ARTS, MATHEMATICS) EDUCATION PROGRAM
with Light” uses your phone’s camera as an expressive image-creation device. Using materials around your home, you are invited to explore interactions of lights and materials to create abstract visual imagery.
“It’ll be fun for the whole family,” says Matt Thomas, Paseo co-founder in an email, “and you’ll have a project you can all work on together over the holiday break!”
Join Paseo online using Google Meet ( meet.google.com/kwn-iovu-arr) any time after the launch date of Dec. 17, when the course will be available
for you to freely access and enjoy over the holidays and any time next year.
The Paseo Project works with community partners to provide educational programming built around local and visiting guest artists. From in-school demos for young people, to virtual online events, The Paseo Project’s education programs expose members of our community to 21st-century skills, contemporary art practices and exciting new ways to engage with the world.
Karin Moulton, co-founder and former director of Taos Academy Charter School, joined the Paseo team in 2020 to help design a STEAM curriculum that meets the needs of these times. Karin has been an educator for 15 years in both public and private schools. She brings an understanding of the importance for students to have the 21st-century leadership skills necessary to succeed in the modern world, as well as a personal interest in the arts and a history of educational leadership in Taos.
