Juntos: Together in TSV

- By Courtney Tucker Courtney Tucker is executive director of the Taos Ski Valley Chamber of Commerce.

This past year has revealed something to celebrate – togetherness and team effort in Taos Ski Valley. Mid-March last year reshaped the landscape in Taos Ski Valley and we have not been the same since. Together we have flexed and changed to accommodate refunds, extra communication, mandates, health orders, safe certifications and even more change, all to support a healthy community, a thriving business climate, a chance to open and keep our community safe.

As a nonprofit Chamber of Commerce in Taos Ski Valley, we witnessed the tears to the sky as our hard working businesses gave refunds for a Spring Break that could not be fulfilled. We accepted our reality, we had a positive case in the valley and we needed to close and do what was right for the community. Our TSV leadership and community were in it together.

Fast forward and now we have a daily screening app rolled out to all employees of all of our businesses, COVID-19 test sessions scheduled every two weeks; daily, weekly, monthly reach-outs to every member business and every employee to support staying safe, staying open, keeping our community healthy. Together, the TSV Chamber, the resort, the village municipality, the TSV business employees and managers – all in it together for a common cause –the health of our community.

I gotta give kudos to the women of Taos Ski Valley as it appears we shine together, lead and take action as if we are ONE BIG WOMAN – thank you Kaela, Liz, Linda, Frankie, Dawn, Heather, Lauren, Suzie, Ann, Nancy, Renee, Erika, Mary, Kerrie, Nicole, Susanna, Holly, Rose and so many other women of TSV – all of us trying to do the right thing. You all deserve a beach vacation this spring!

And to our member businesses and employees that have accepted the new technology, the Zoom rally cries of this Chamber – thank you for being in it together, we could not lead the efforts without your support and your follow-through to stay safe and stay open.

And to our locals, thank you for wearing your mask and showing us that you are in it with us. Together, we can stay safe and stay open. WEAR IT OVER YOUR FACE SO WE DON’T CLOSE!

Together.
