Tractor Supply Co. opens Saturday in Taos
Taos County farmers, ranchers, back-yard gardeners and horse owners will have a new spot to peruse tools, feed and more beginning Saturday (Jan. 30) when Tractor Supply Company opens its new store off Paseo del Pueblo Sur.
“The rural lifestyle retailer is committed to providing essential, everyday products that customers need like animal feed, pet food and supplies, propane, fencing, garden supplies, home supplies and more,” said a press release from the company.
“At Tractor Supply, we understand the value of providing essential needs like pet food, animal feed and home supplies to our customers in the Taos community,” said Veronica Short, manager of the Taos Tractor Supply store. “Our team members live the same lifestyle as our customers, and we’re excited to supply them with the tools, information and resources they need to live life on their own terms.”
Carhartt clothing fans will find a supply of the outdoor work clothes at the store. People in need of outdoor farm and ranch equipment will also find a selection.
The company, founded in 1939 and now headquartered in Brentwood, Tennessee, has more than 1,840 stores around the United States.
Its corporate headquarters issued a statement saying the company is working to keep team members and customers safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Among the plans are to have a dedicated greeter at each store “to drive awareness of social distancing, monitor the number of customers in store and provide additional cleaning of key items like carts and registers.”
The Taos store will also offer same day next day delivery services along with options for contactless payment. The store has increased product availability to ensure there is plenty of inventory.
Owners of two local feed stores in town – Blue Sky and Taos Tack – told the Taos News in August they weren’t overly concerned with competition from Tractor Supply, noting they have loyal customers and the chain store carried different items than they do for some products.
