Katia Torrelli-Delgado

Was born on December 22nd, 1962 in Peru. She was given birth by her mother, Clara Villanueva, whose family roots are in Arecipa, Peru. Her father, Wilfredo Torrelli, was from the borough La Victoria in Lima, Peru. Four years after Katia’s birth, she was joined by her beloved, “little” brother, Alex. Katia lived with her devoted grandparents, Jose Maria Delgado and Sara Gonsales, until the age of 6 when she, her mother, and brother immigrated to the United States and resided in New York City. Katia quickly learned English and adapted to life in the United Sates; yet, she never let go of her Peruvian roots, which deeply shaped who she was and how she lived her life. As a bilingual, bi-cultural woman of exceptional grace and inner beauty, Katia was a devoted mother to her only child, Kaelen Torrelli-Agecoutay, a soul-mate to her husband, J. Mark Mash, a fierce advocate and compassionate healer to the children and families she served, and an angelic presence in this world. Katia loved to dance, paint, explore the depths of soulful connection, hike, garden, and listen with immeasurable curiosity and kindness. She left this material dimension on January 25th, 2021, having lived fully, loved deeply, and searched incessantly. Dear Katia, you inspire us with how you lived, how you fought for life, and even in how you died. We, your family, friends, colleagues, and clients, were blessed by you and will forever be made more whole by you. We love you, miss you, and thank you. We bless your journey into the mystery of the Eternal Beyond and we find solace in the words of Kahil Gibran: “For only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing. And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb. Katia Torrelli-Delgado nació el 22 de Diciembre de 1962 en Lima, Perú. Nació de su madre, Clara Villanueva de raíces en Arequipa, Perú y de su padre, Wilfredo Torrelli original del barrio de La Victoria en Lima, Perú. 4 años después, nació su amado hermanito Alex. Katia vivió con sus adorados abuelos, Jose Maria Delgado y Sara Gonzales, hasta la edad de 6 años; cuando ella, su madre y hermanito emigraron a los Estados Unidos y se establecieron en la ciudad de Nueva York. Katia aprendió rapidamente el inglés y se adaptó a la vida en los Estados Unidos; sin embargo nunca dejó sus raíces peruanas, las cuales marcaron profundamente la persona que ella era y la forma en la que vivía su vida. Como bilingüe, mujer pluricultural de increíble gracia y belleza interior; Katia fue una madre dedicada a su único hijo -Kaelen Agecoutay Torrelli, y alma gemela de su esposo- J. Mark Mash. Una feroz defensora y sanadora compasiva de los niños y las familias a las que ayudó; ella fue una presencia angelical en este mundo. A Katia le encantaba bailar, pintar, explorar las profundidades de la conexión del cuerpo y el alma, caminar en las montañas, trabajar en su jardín y escuchar a otros curiosa y dulcemente. Dejó esta dimensión material el 25 de Enero de 2021, habiendo vivido plenamente, amado profundamente y buscado incansablemente.
