‘Creative Taos’ monthly displays
A different local artist is featured each month in Creative Taos, Moxie Fair Trade & Handmade display window at 216 Paseo del Pueblo Norte, a block north of Taos Plaza. “We are pleased to feature Julie Cloutman for March,” said curator/artist Katie Thomas. “Ms. Cloutman’s love of fabric opened the door to a life-long journey of weaving and teaching. 2021 Chamber Music Festival
Taos School of Music announced the reopening of its school and its 58th annual Chamber Music Festival for the 2021 summer season. The 19 students participating this summer come from major music schools from across the United States. Most of the students were invited to attend last year’s school, which was canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic. Concerts will take place Saturdays and Sundays in June, July and August. Returning faculty are the Borromeo String Quartet, the Shanghai Quartet, Brentano String Quartet, violinist Ara Gregorian and pianists Robert McDonald and Thomas Sauer. TEMPO MARCH 18 – 24, 2021

• PAPNM (Plein Air Painters of New Mexico) offers socially-distanced painting in Jemez Springs area April 17-22, ending in a free-admission show at Jemez Fine Art Gallery, 17346 Hwy 4 in Jemez Springs, from April 24-May 7, 2021. PAPNM promotes painting “en plein air.” The paint-out area includes Fenton Lake, Battleship Rock, Soda Dam, Bandelier National Monument, Gilman Tunnels, the Jemez Historic site, numerous fishing and picnic areas along the Jemez river, the Valles Caldera and Jemez Falls. The public is invited to see the artists at work from a socially responsible distance. Taos 6th- through 12th-graders called to submit art by March 22, 205 p.m. at Encore Gallery, 145 Paseo del Pueblo Norte, for “Movement: Ripple, Wave, Vibration.”“This show seeks to explore movement and elevate visual art made by students who recognize movement continues and is continuous in our wide world,” press states about this community art exhibition, to be juried and awarded 1st, 2nd, 3rd place for grades 6-8 and 9-12, by the TCA, town of Taos, and Taos Ski Valley, running March 26-April 30. • Harwood’s ‘In the Sliver of the Sun,’ features Bosnian-Herzgovinian artist Maja Ruznic’s paintings through Sept. 26. Ruznic uses thin stains and washes of acrylic and oil to create the initial compositions for these works of scumbling, layering and sanding. Ruznic lives and works in Roswell.
