Anglers fish for conservati­on in Enchanted Circle tournament

Anglers, get out your gear. It’s time to spend a weekend fishing, and don’t worry, it’s all for a good cause.

On Oct. 23 and 24, the Enchanted Circle Trout Unlimited fishing tournament will take place. This is the ninth year of the tournament designed to raise funds to help conservati­on efforts in local rivers. The exact location is yet to be determined. ANNUAL FLY-FISHING TOURNAMENT

• Oct. 23 - 24, 2021

• $1,000 fee per team of 3 fisherpers­ons + 1 volunteer profession­al guide

• Scoring = Count each fisherpers­on’s best 3 fish

• Fishing 2 local rivers, 1 each day

• Sign up at Taos Fly Shop; make checks to ECTU

• COVID permitting, an informal outdoor celebratio­n dinner at conclusion

ENCHANTED CIRCLE TROUT UNLIMITED,

the Northern New Mexico chapter of the national Trout Unlimited organizati­on, is a conservati­on organizati­on whose mission, carried out at the grassroots level, is to “protect native and wild trout watersheds, reconnect watersheds by removal of migratory barriers, restore habitat, flows and water quality, and sustain by land conservanc­y, youth education and membership developmen­t.”

Angel Fire offering discounted passes

Ski and snowboard lovers looking to get an early jump on the next snow season can now get their seasons off to the right (and most inexpensiv­e) start. Angel Fire Resort is offering $300 off its season passes.

The deal lasts through Sept. 30. According to a news release, these will be the lowest season pass prices offered all year. The release also says pass holders will get “direct access to the lift every day this winter season (Dec. 10, 2021-March 20, 2022), and no blackout days or restrictio­ns.”

Perhaps best of all, the pass comes with three days of skiing at all Powder Alliance Resorts across

North America, Canada, and Japan. That includes:
