Gregorio M. Lopez, 38, of Peñasco

Age 38, of Penasco, New Mexico, was unexpected­ly taken from us to be with our Lord on Wednesday, August 11, 2021. Gregorio was born on August 22, 1983 and was raised and continued to reside in Penasco up until his death. He attended the Penasco Independen­t Schools and graduated from Penasco High School in May of 2002. Greg enjoyed the outdoors; he loved camping and spending time in the mountains. Like all his fellow neighbors in the Penasco Valley, he geared up for winter every year by hauling wood which was another of his favorite past times. He enjoyed cooking and could make a deliciousl­y great lemon meringue pie. However, most of all, he loved and cherished the time he spent with his daughter, Genesis . Gregorio had a big heart and was always willing to help anyone in any way he could. Gregorio will be missed dearly by so many of his friends and family members who will always remember his vivacious smile and kind hearted personalit­y. Gregorio was preceded in death by his only sibling and brother, Ramon Lopez, his maternal grandparen­ts, Macario & Carmen Fresquez, his aunt, Ramona Lopez, and his uncle, Carl Lux. Gregorio is survived by his 5 year old daughter, Genesis Lucero whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by his parents, Sosteno and Susana Lopez, his paternal grandparen­ts, Sosteno and Juanita Lopez, the mother of his child, Andreana Lucero, cousins, Julie (Pat Caldwell) and Annissa Fresquez whom he thought of and considered his sisters, special nieces, Destiny and Aliyah Rodriguez, his Godparents, Mardoqueo and Priscilla Chacon, and many other uncles, aunts, cousins, relatives, and friends. Services will be held at San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church in Penasco; a rosary will be recited on Thursday, September 9 at 7:00. The funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 10 at 11:00 with the burial following at the Chacon Family Cemetary in Penasco. The family has entrusted Riverside Funeral Home of Santa Fe with the care of their beloved Gregorio. Serving as Pallbearer­s: Adrian, David, and Amanda Lopez; Steven and Michael John Romero; Andrew Vigil; Oliver Fresquez and Brittany Fresquez; Destiny and Aliyah Rodriguez; Ronald Martinez and Darlene Gonzales; Norman and Denise Fernandez; Zach Gonzales; Josiah Lucero and Michael Roybal.
