Taos News wins state press association general excellence, public service awards
Staff take home 22 first-place honors
Taos News won the General Excellence award for Class I weekly newspapers at the New Mexico Press Association’s 2021 Better Newspaper Contest awards banquet Saturday night (Oct. 30).
The paper also won the Public Service award, 22 individual firstplace honors and nine secondplace awards at the press association’s annual banquet, which was held at the El Dorado Hotel & Spa.
The Utah Press Association judged this year’s Better Newspaper Contest.
“I am especially excited that we were able to win first place in General Excellence 20 times over the last 21 years,” said Taos News Publisher Chris Baker. “This is always a competitive award, and it is a testament to our goal of always bringing our readers the best newspaper that we can produce.”
Earlier this year, the National Newspaper Association also ranked Taos News as the best weekly newspaper for its size in the United States.
