Passed away at her home in Midland, Texas on March 31, 2022. Born in Guadalajar­a, Mexico October 4, 1931, as the oldest of 9 children to Esther De Alba and Fernando Ramirez. The family eventually moved to Toluca, Mexico where she finished her education at Escuela Normal to become a teacher. While she was teaching at Valle de Bravo, she met her first husband, Robert C. Ellis of Jacksboro, Texas. They were married in 1957 and had a daughter, Erendira in 1958. Robert Ellis pursued a career in Art which gave Rosa the opportunit­y to live in Madrid, Spain; Paris, France; Rome, Italy; Honolulu, Hawaii; New York City, New York; Galveston, Texas. Finally, after receiving a year-long Wurlitzer Foundation grant, they moved to Taos, New Mexico. Robert Ellis died in 1979. While in Taos, she became deeply involved in the Art community, becoming one of the founding members of The Harwood Museum. Which later honored her by naming a wing of the Museum “The Ellis Clark Taos Moderns Gallery”. She partnered in the Desurmont-Ellis Gallery, opened the gift shop The Americas, was a trustee of the Millicent Roger Museum and served on the Board of Directors of Peoples State Bank in Taos. Rosa met Midland resident, John M. Clark in Taos and were married in 1983. John and Rosa would winter in Midland and summer in Taos enjoying the best of both communitie­s. While living in Midland she served on the Board of Directors for Ellen Noel Museum in Odessa, founding member of Gallery 1114 in Midland and Board of Advisors for Planned Parenthood of West Texas. She also continued her love of travel by visiting Peru, Egypt and China. Rosa is proceeded in death by her husband John M. Clark, her daughter Erendira Ellis. She is survived by brothers Pedro Ramirez, Horacio Ramirez and Ricardo Ramirez, sister Eloisa Robles, nephews Hernan Ramirez and Francisco Ramirez, and numerous other nieces and nephews, stepson Roger Clark, wife Lynne Clark, step grandchild­ren, Heather Henderson, Gable Clark, Josh Clark and Amanda Peters. A Celebratio­n of Life in Midland, Texas; Taos, New Mexico; and Toluca, Mexico will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to Hospice of Midland or the charity of choice. Funeral services provided by Ellis Funeral Home.
