Passed away unexpected­ly on Saturday April 16, 2022. Richard was born 12/16/1956 to Tavita and Ernesto Romero. He grew up in Canyon and was a graduate of Taos High. He was preceded in death by both of his parents. His siblings Jane Medina, Nancy Romero, Ernest Romero, Leo Romero, Ted Romero and Christine Cherry. He is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, Margie Romero, children, Gabriel (Autumn) Romero and Isaac (Melissa) Romero, grandchild­ren, Alyssa, Ariana, Aaron, Anthony, Andrew, Anila, and Aadan, siblings, Sylvia Archuleta, Len Romero, Melvin Romero and Marie (Paul) Archuleta and many nieces and nephews. Richard was a beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, friend and will be missed by many. Richard enlisted in the Army at the age of 33 and achieved his paratroope­r jump wings with the 82nd Airborne. He was stationed in Ft. Bragg and moved his family out to North Carolina. He spent 11 months in Korea and was eventually stationed in Ft. Bliss. Richard was medically released on disability and concluded his active duty time with an Honorable Discharge. Richard loved his music and beer. He could often be found sitting in the corner at Don Carlos next to the Jukebox. He loved driving through Rio Chiquito or Little Rio Grande and loved being in the mountains. Always ready with a joke, Richard loved making people laugh. Most of all Richard loved his wife and family, especially his grandchild­ren. He was loved and will be missed by his Guerrita, Nana banana, Chopperz, Tiko, Buggy, Nilly Vanilly, and Aaddie.
