Matthew Valentín Cordero
Age 28, of Ranchos de Taos, passed away unexpectedly on May 8, 2022. Matthew was born in El Paso, Texas to Abby Maestas and Ruben Cordero, Jr. in 1994. Matthew is preceded in death by his father, Ruben Cordero, Jr., grandfathers Alex Maestas and Ruben Cordero, Sr., and great-grandparents Joe Alex Maestas, and Francisco and Ruth Moya. Matthew loved taking his children fishing, cruising with music blaring, playing video games and wearing his red cap. Matthew is survived by his wife, Charise Farden, his children Matthew Elijah and Ayva Reign, his mother Abby Maestas, his mother-in-law Louella Vigil, fatherin-law Warren Kelly, father-in-law Charles Farden (Desbah), grandmothers Debbie Maestas, Lucy Moya White (Daegan), and Cecilia Cordero (Rudy) and his great-grandparents Josie Maestas, and Nelson and Gloria Vigil. Matthew’s siblings include Johnny Tejada, Tommy Cordero, Marlette Tejada, Cynthia Cordero and sister-in-law Kailey Kelly. Aunts include Joann Gallegos (Steve), Elma Vigil, Darlene Salazar (Peter), Margaret Turner (Dennis), Paula Schuldheisz (John), Julie Sanchez (Joe), Dolores Moya (John), Carmen Gonzales (Leroy), MaryAnn Maddox (Frank), Brenda Gallegos (Billy), and Delane Kaczmarek (Michael). Uncles include Neil Maestas (Michelle), Chris Maestas (Maribel), Andy Maestas (Connie), Terry Maestas (Lynette), Freddy Maestas (Pam), Pat Maestas, David Maestas (Denise), Phillip Maestas, Jesus Cordero (Cindy), Omar Martinez, Frank Moya (Elaine), and Charles Moya, Daryl Vigil (Brittany), Herson Montoya (Joanna), Anthony Montoya (Marlene), Joseph Montoya (Valerie), and Martin Montoya (Maria), and many other friends and family members. Matthew will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Rosary will be recited on Thursday May 19, 2022 at 10am followed by the Funeral Mass at 11am at San Francisco De Asís Catholic church with burial to follow at the Talpa Cemetery.
