Spring Wellness Fair at Revolt Gallery

- BY TAMRA TESTERMAN

THIS SATURDAY (MAY 21), there is a Spring Wellness Fair happening at Revolt Gallery located at 222 Paseo del Pueblo Norte. There will be vendors, workshops and music and Tribal Dance Beats from 8 p.m. to midnight. It’s an opportunity to mingle with the wellness community, listen to music and check out the goods from local vendors

Tempo invited the organizer, Sara Thompson, to tell us more about the event, the vendors and workshops.

What is the history of the event?

Akasha Goods (Sara Thompson) created the wellness events last year in the winter of 2021. The goal was to bring together health oriented goods, services, artists and practitioners from around the Taos area into one space for the accessibility of the community. We launched our first event at the Temple of Crystal Races in the Gusdorf lofts. This event was an immersive experience for people to come out and practice a day of wellness where healthoriented vendors and workshop instructors taught a variety of techniques such as cupping, breathwork, sound therapy, relationship healing, medicine and education. The community wellreceived the event, packing the house from morning to night.

Please talk about the vendors and workshops.

There will be vendors and workshops happening during the day from 1-7 p.m., with music going on both during the day and in the evening. We have been orchestrating events with our vendors and practitioners for the last year, cultivating a grassroots network. Some of the vendor highlights include Gaia Cravt run by Cierra Marti. She makes handmade art and apothecary goods. Her craft is to support Gaia Sanctuary, a haven of animal rescue started by Cierra.

Botanical Wellness—Brooke Wright has launched a line of aromatherapy chakra oils that can be found at our shows and in Cid’s Food Market. Broken Arrow Glass is a husband-and-wife duo that upcycle bottle glass into art. Shelby and Chris Bogle launched their glass recycling program in Taos last summer at the Shakedown. Sage is a local spiritual guide who helps people connect with source, personal purpose and heal past traumas through Tarot Readings, classes and private and group consultations. Briana Smith is a traditional herbalist and medicine woman. She is a humble steward to traditions of curanderismo and vitalism and a daughter to the Great Mystery.

Also taking part are Mythos Libations, Audrey Lobdell Reiki and Sound Healing, Akasha Goods, Young Living Essential Oils, Eternal Becoming, Spirit Healing, High Desert Honey, Oak and Well, Bear and Rainbow, Nooraya

Sophia Wales Art, Samwich Glassworks and more.

Vendors and Workshop Sampling opportunities include Herbal Remedies, Essential Oils, Crystals, Non-toxic Home Goods, Yoga, Sound Bath Therapy, Natural Skincare, Organic Foods, Medicine Workshops, Breath Work, Majestic Embodiment, Artwork, Crafts, Drums, Akashic Records Meditations, Tarot Readings, 5 Element Theory & Alchemy, Herbal Education, Metalwork, jewellery, paintings, upcycled glass, blown glass, weaving and clothing.

And there is a Transformational Twerk Class — brought to you by Samwich and Tammy Stackpoole. Meltdown Myles (Myles Donald) will be on the visuals and we will go over the basics of stress relief through twerking.

What about the music?

From 1-4 p.m., Steve from Revolt will run a Meet Market music set and DJ educational booth. From 4-7 p.m., there will be a drum circle and jam session featuring talented musicians without an official band.

And from 8 p.m. till close, the party moves indoors to dance to DJs from Taos and Santa Fe, who mix traditional tribal sounds with modern beats.

This event took a small team to produce. We want to thank Steve at Revolt Gallery, Chaitanya at Tribal Vision and Mark at Heads Up Music. And all the vendors, wellness instructors and musicians that make The Shakedown a full on immersive event.
