Angel Fire resident Sandra WaskoFlood wins The Paul Bartlett Ré Peace Prize for lifetime achievemen­ts

VISIONARY ARTIST, poet, teacher and founder of Living Labyrinths for Peace, Sandra Wasko-Flood, has won the The Paul Bartlett Ré Peace Prize for lifetime achievemen­ts for her Art, Poetry and Labyrinth Peace Work. The Paul Bartlett Ré Peace Prize is given biennially to University of New Mexico students, faculty, staff members, alumni, retirees or volunteers who promote peace, harmony and understand­ing among people of the world. This year’s winners will be honoured on May 26, at the Paul Bartlett Ré Peace Prize Reception, a virtual event being held from 1-3 p.m. The zoom meeting link is https://unm.zoon. us/i/9762750389­9.

Wasko-Flood earned a BA in English from UCLA (1965) and a secondary teaching credential from California State College in Los Angeles. A printmakin­g artist, Wasko-Flood’s work is in public and private collection­s all over the world. She is a visionary leader, who founded the Washington DC Women’s Arts Centre, the Washington Printmaker­s Gallery, and the Art Spirit Group, an organizati­on that relates art to spirituali­ty. An experience in the Great Kiva of Chaco Canyon, N.M. led her to develop a computer programmed light box with images to walk on called “Dance of the Labyrinth.”

Wasko-Flood is the President of Living Labyrinths for Peace, Inc., a nationwide operating nonprofit that aspires to bring Labyrinth Centers to

all areas of the world where people can walk the labyrinth path of Inner Peace to World Peace in community with each other.

Her recent books include: “The Labyrinth Path to Light and Peace: Art and Poetry,” “Universal Journey: A Fine Art Retrospect­ive,” “Art/Technology – Labyrinths of Light: Co-Creating Peace with Technology and Nature” and “Labyrinths in the Schools for Creativity and Peace.”
