Memorial Day concerts canceled due to wildfires in area
AMP’S JAMIE LENFESTEY informed Tempo last Friday morning that the Town of Taos has decided, due to the ongoing Hermits Peak—Calf Canyon Fire, they are unable to go forward with concerts scheduled for Kit Carson Park, this weekend on May 28 and 29.
The Towns resources are stretched to the limit and all attention needs to be focused on the efforts to fight the fire and support the needs of residents of the communities effected by this largest fire in New Mexico history.
“We are going to be able to move Thievery Corporation on the same date, May 29, to Santa Fe, and are working to find a new date for Ben Harper to play Taos,” Lenfestey told Tempo.
“We are working together with Ben Harper’s team to find a new date for this show to play in Taos this summer,” Lenfestey said, “the hearts of Ben’s entire band and crew are with the people of Taos and surrounding communities as they face this difficult situation, and they look forward to playing soon.”
All existing tickets will be honored for the new date. Stay tuned to AMP Concerts for updated information. If you cannot attend the new date, you can request a refund at taosconcertinfo@ampconcerts.org
Thievery Corporation has been moved to The Bridge Patio at Santa Fe Brewing Company in Santa Fe. All original tickets will be honored. If you cannot attend at this new venue, you can request a refund at taosconcertinfo@ampconcerts.org
Ozomatli will not be part of the show at this new venue.
“Through all of this, we at AMP Concerts stand with the people of Taos and across Northern New Mexico in this difficult time,” Lenfestey said.
“AMP loves Taos, and we know that Taos loves music. We look forward to presenting ZZ Top on June 18, and once again sharing the joy of live music with you all.”
