Madame M sees the future

- Madame M with her oracles. BY MADAME M

WITH THE CLOSING OF A BUMPY 2022 year, we find ourselves wondering what the new year of 2023 will bring. For this New Year’s predictions I will start off with a description of what the Chinese New Year of the rabbit could entail, then note the obvious energetic celestial impacts, and lastly, I will do a clairvoyant reading for insight as to what I can see for 2023’s future.

That being said, let’s start off with the Chinese year of the tiger which will come to an end on Jan. 21, 2023. The Chinese New Year always falls on the second new moon after the winter solstice of Dec. 21 — the Chinese New Year date can vary anywhere from Jan. 21 to Feb. 20. This year’s 2023 Chinese New Year falls on Jan. 22 in the sign of the rabbit and the element of water. The year of the water rabbit will last until Feb. 9, 2024. Some of the things one can expect from a water rabbit year are patience, luck, peace, and success in areas that were challenging in 2022’s year of the tiger. The financial aspects in the year of the rabbit would normally bring effortless wealth but because of the pandemic’s effect on the economy, things may not shift so quickly to a more wealthy prediction. This sign of the rabbit is quick to react and less likely to panic under pressure. It is highly in tune with successful survival moves. This year’s rabbit sign is not naturally governed by the water element and this could lead to more tasks being started but lagging in finishing. So there can be a bit of procrastinating when it comes to projects. Nevertheless, we can still visualize 4 lucky rabbits’ foot/feet guiding us into the next 12 or so months.

Besides the planetary retrogrades we experience throughout the year, there will be four supermoons in 2023. A supermoon is when a new moon or a full moon appears particularly larger due to its closest ecliptic orbit to earth. The first supermoon for 2023 will occur on July 3 followed by a second one on Aug. 1, then again on Aug. 31, and the final one on Sept. 29 of 2023. The Aug. 31 full moon is titled a “Blue Moon” because it is the second full moon to occur in a one-month period. Lastly, I would like to mention 2023’s annular solar eclipse named “The Ring of Fire.” This celestial event will take place on Oct. 14. The eclipse will be highly visible for most of the southwestern part of the United States (given it isn’t blocked by clouds). The full moon’s disk will pass in front of the sun’s disk giving it a slightly smaller appearance of its darkness; hence giving it its name. Do heed that protective filters and eyewear will be needed to observe this spectacular experience.

And now onto the part most have been reading for. On a global scale it’s likely we will probably witness three major events in 2023; the fall of a Russian leader (perhaps from illness or assassination), the rise of a new Pope, and an increase in civil wars as well. These three predictions have also been made by Nostradamus himself. Unusual climatic storms and wildfires will surge with breaking records. A catastrophic natural disaster could stem from the testing of foreign missiles.

As a nation, we can expect more blackouts/collapses of electrical and technology grids in 2023. Artificial intelligence continues to race at rapid speeds to improve our lives. Most major cities stand to expand with A.I. but don’t expect Taos to comply with these precipitous ideas so easily. There will be an increase of protests on the Taos plaza sparked by the latest concerning topics. The change will be a hard pill to swallow for most full-time residents. Talks of two retail giants merging in our tiny town will be just that — talks! Taos has a better chance of seeing the expansion of a SuperWalmart or another large corporate retailer docking in its havens. The TSV continues to expand and accommodate for its seasonal tourists and exclusives. Discussions amongst the elite for a fuel station on the mountain swarm but struggle to get a confirmation for such requests. Meanwhile, gas prices have no chance of returning to the heavenly prices of past years in 2023. Taos may see a new water tower to help serve our expanding community. And lastly, a spacious plot of land (northwest of town) will be subdivided for several commercial uses.

With the closing of my new year’s forecasts please note that one’s predictions are not carved in stone. Outcomes can vary with change due to interventions and unforeseen actions. Remember, we are the captains of our own ships when it comes to personal change and we as a community can take a stance in the development and construction of our municipalities. Let our voices be heard and Happy New Year!
