Age 90, of Questa, NM was called home to our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, January 31st, 2023 with his family by his side. He was born on December 16, 1932 to Herman and Eliza Garcia. At the age of 9, his father passed away and his mother married his stepfather, Aurelio Maestas. He is survived by his wife Isabel Garcia. Three children: Germaine (Gene) Sanchez, Louise (Roger) Archuleta, and Benjamin (Frances) Garcia, Jr. Seven grandchild­ren, Ruben Salazar, late Nicole Salazar, Patricia (James) Raschel, Benjamin (Anna) Garcia, Devonne (Michael) Montoya, late Issac and Issiah Garcia. Seven great- grandchild­ren, Christophe­r Elliott, Avi, Koi, Rio Garcia, Memphis, Michael, Maverick, and Mason Montoya. Benjamin, aka “Ben,” was the third oldest child among nine siblings. He is survived by sisters Lillian (Roger) Ortega, Dora (late Arsenio) Brito, and brother Roger Maestas. He is preceded in death by his brothers Nelson (Eutemia), Robert (Orlinda), Louie (Mary), Bonifacio Garcia. Sisters Ida Lopez, and Charlotte (Eusebio) Salazar and stepsister Grace (Alfredo) Rivera. Ben married the love of his life Isabel Herrera in 1953 before leaving to the Army to serve his Country in the Korean War. He was a hard-working individual that turned his talents onto an entreprene­urship. In the 80’s he and his brother-in-law merged their talents and created H&G Constructi­on. He also started his own pluming company he ran for many years. Rosary was recited on Monday, February 6, 2023 at 10am, followed by the Mass of Christian burial at 11am, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Questa. Interment followed at El Pueblito Cemetery.
