Nicholas “Spence” J. DiPallo passed away peacefully on Thursday Feb. 20, 2014 at Suburban Woods Health and Rehabilita­tion Center in Norristown, Pa. after a very short illness. He was 97 of Conshohock­en.

Nicholas was a lifelong resident of Conshohock­en, Pa. He graduated from Conshohock­en High School in 1934. He worked at Alan Wood Steel Company as a crane operator until he retired. Nicholas was a member of SS. Cosmas and Damian Church in Conshohock­en.

Born in Conshohock­en, Pa. on Aug. 13, 1916, he was the son of the late Domenic and Antoinette (Sigismundi) DiPallo.

Surviving are his niece, Julia and her husband James Cottrell and his nephew Domenic and his wife Lucille DiPaolo. He has one great nephew, three great nieces, two great- great nieces and one great-great nephew. He was preceded in death by sisters Polly DiSebastia­no and Rose DiPallo and brother Vincent DiPaolo.

Nick served in the United States of America Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. He fought valiantly in the Philippine­s and was part of the occupation force in Japan. He was an avid Phillies fan who constantly wore his Phillies cap. Nick was an active member of the Andrew J. Lannutti Post 18 and enjoyed spending time with his fellow post members. Nick enjoyed watching the Eagles and completing word jumbles. He was an avid golfer in his younger years playing as often as possible.

Relatives and friends may pay respects on Thursday morning, Feb. 27, 2014, from 10-10:50 a.m. at SS. Cosmas & Damian RC Church, 5th Ave. & Maple St., Conshohock­en.

A funeral mass will commence in the church at 11 a.m. Interment, St. Matthew Cemetery in Conshohock­en. Profession­al arrangemen­ts are by the William A. Moore Funeral Home, 708 Fayette St., Conshohock­en. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Andrew J. Lannutti Post, 505 Maple Street, Conshohock­en, PA or the charity of your choice.
