ESCAPE
Providence police Chief Francis “Bud” Carroll in a stand of woods near the intersection of Eagleville Road and Ridge Pike.
“Plymouth Township police Officer Jonathan Monaghan and K-9 Fox, along with Cpl. Matthew Kuhnert, Lower Providence Police Department, were able to locate and apprehended the defendant, who was hiding in the thick brush near the area where he was sighted by Chief Carroll,” the release said.
Hankerson was allegedly taken into custody “without incident” approximately two and a half hours after his initial escape.
In the meantime, the prison had gone into a maximum lockdown, a guard told a reporter at the scene Monday.
Hankerson was in Montgomery County Correctional Facility for a parole violation. He had been incarcerated there since Aug. 24, according to the press release.
It’s unclear how long he was sentenced to stay there.
Rebar set Hankerson’s bail for the escape charge at $250,000, cash. In lieu of that, he was once again remanded to Montgomery County Correctional Facility.
