Elementary school playground vandalized

UPPER MERION » At 12:38 a.m. Sept. 30 police were alerted to a fire in the 200 block of Meadowbroo­k Road. A 4-foot section of fence at Candlebroo­k Elementary School had been burned. About an hour later, police and firefighte­rs were called back to the scene after playground equipment and several trash cans were found burning. Several picnic tables and a bench had also been flipped over.

Theft of designer dresses

UPPER MERION » On Oct. 2 at 4:45 p.m. two men and a woman walked into Anthropolo­gie & Co. in the King of Prussia Mall together, then separated. After they left, the store’s manager noticed several empty hangers and found that several Rachel Comey dresses had been stolen.

Juvenile escapee apprehende­d

WEST NORRITON » A teen boy who was being transporte­d to the Montgomery County Youth Center escaped around 3 p.m. Sept. 29. The juvenile, who led police on a foot chase while shirtless and in his stocking feet, was apprehende­d after running through a backyard in the first block of Liberty Avenue.

Shoplifter ID’d by neighbor

WEST NORRITON » A man who allegedly stole a vacuum from Walmart, 650 Trooper Road, Sept. 28, was recognized by an employee who told police the thief was her neighbor. The incident was reported around 3 p.m. Sept. 29, after a review of security video showed the man taking the vacuum from the sales floor and bypassing all points of sale. Upon viewing the video, the employee immediatel­y identified the suspect, who was also known to police for a prior retail theft.

Wanted man turns himself in

WEST NORRITON » At 7:45 p.m. Sept. 29, a man wanted for shopliftin­g more than a year ago turned himself in at the Lower Providence police station. Security video from Walmart, 650 Trooper Road, recorded shortly after 1 p.m. Sept. 19, 2016, showed the suspect and an accomplice stealing gaming cameras and binoculars worth more than $400 from the hunting section of the store. A warrant for the suspect, who was on probation in Montgomery County, was issued in December 2016.

Tip leads to multiple drug arrests

WEST NORRITON » On Sept. 24 at 2:30 a.m. police were alerted to a possible drug sale near Chateau Granieri, 2522 W. Main St. A witness reportedly overheard a drug transactio­n and directed police to a passing vehicle. Officers stopped the vehicle and questioned the driver. Police reportedly observed a plastic sandwich bag containing multiple smaller bags of suspected narcotics in the back seat. The driver was taken into custody and also found to have two bags of methamphet­amine in his waistband. The driver reportedly told police he had just come from a room in the motel where drugs were present. When officers went to the room, a man and a woman reportedly invited them in and gave them consent to search it. Police found drug packaging materials and a safe containing a scale, two BB guns and eight cellphones. Four syringes and 10 small bags of suspected narcotics were found in the woman’s purse. The couple was also placed into custody and the suspected drugs and parapherna­lia were logged as evidence.

Former tenant suspected of vandalism

NORRISTOWN » On Sept. 26 at 12:45 p.m. a man came into the police station to report vandalism to his home in the 1000 block of Willow Street. The homeowner told police a neighbor informed him that the culprit was the son of his former tenant who had been evicted. The suspect broke the banister off of a staircase, threw paint around the living room and left all of the water running. The victim’s neighbor turned off the faucets before water damage was caused.

Theft of packages

NORRISTOWN » At 1:28 p.m. Sept. 29 police responded to a reported theft at Metropolit­an Boiler & Heating, 1320 Markley St. Two packages of valves and other parts worth approximat­ely $650 had been delivered by UPS but were stolen from the business’s doorstep.

Motor bikes stolen

NORRISTOWN » Police are investigat­ing the theft of a four-wheeler and three dirt bikes from a storage shed in the 200 block of Jacoby Street. According to the victim, the theft occurred between Sept. 20 and Sept. 28 after he moved the vehicles from a storage facility. The white Predator 500; yellow Suzuki DRZ 400; red, white and blue Honda XR 250; and red Honda Z50 have an estimated combined value of $6,700.

Suit thief sought

NORRISTOWN » On Sept. 28 at 5:12 p.m. police met with a resident who reported a theft at the Luxor Apartments, 900 Luxor Lane. The victim said eight or nine of her son’s suits were stolen from her kitchen counter after 11 p.m. the previous evening. She left the suits on the counter while a closet bracket was being repaired and discovered them missing when she returned the following afternoon. The room, she said, is accessible only with a key fob. The suits are valued at approximat­ely $150 a piece. Staff informed the victim that they will review surveillan­ce video.

Theft of motorcycle

NORRISTOWN » Police are investigat­ing the theft of a motorcycle that occurred between 2 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Sept. 28 in the 600 block of Willow Street. The victim said he had been parking the bike — a gray and black Suzuki GSX-R1000 worth approximat­ely $7,000 — at the same location for nearly two years without incident. He also informed police he belonged to a motorcycle club and the day of the theft, a biker from another club warned him to chain his bike because of several recent thefts in the area.
