the residents of East Norriton to have a local point of contact for issues with the school taxes, instead of having to deal with the bureaucracy of Berkheimer Associates.”

A self-employed certified public accountant who has had his office in East Norriton for over 17 years, Lahner is a graduate of Drexel and Villanova Universities.

“My wife and I have been residents of East Norriton for 30 years,” Lahner noted.

Lahner’s opponent for tax collector post in the Nov. 7 municipal election, Democrat Kate Gillen, said that her background in county government and banking “will bring a diverse and fresh perspective” to the office.

“I live in East Norriton with my husband, Vince, and my two daughters, Charlotte and Nora. I studied business administration at Immaculata University,” she said. “I am a small-business owner and have worked previously as a manager in the banking industry.”

If elected, Gillen said, she is committed to serving the residents of East Norriton township as a “full-time” tax collector, and would will not refer the work to a third party.

“In East Norriton, a taxpayer has to contact the West Norriton tax collector in order to pay their property taxes,” she said. “I believe that an elected official should serve the residents of the community that they are elected in. I am committed to serving the residents of East Norriton Township, if elected.”
